Arvigo Abdominal Techniques

HISTORY

The curiosity of Rosita Arvigo, an American napropath, brought her to Belize in the 1970s, fostering an alliance and friendship with a Guatemalan healer, Don Elijio Panti. By the mid 1990s, she pledged to pass on his knowledge, along with sanctifying the forest, herbs and traditions he cared for in his lifetime. Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage came to the awareness of practitioners internationally. By 2023, through the transfer of the program honoring their work, the name was transformed to Tul'ix Indigenous Arts; offering practitioners the opportunity to weave their own heritage into these sacred healing practices.

INDICATIONS

Our bodies reflect the myriad loves, joys and challenges we have experienced in our lives. As with musculoskeletal tissue, our organs of the abdomen additionally benefit from manual attention; attending to the flows of blood, lymph, chi, reduction of fascial adhesions, and space for the nerves to optimally glide and function.

GOALS

The Arvigo abdominal techniques foster a positive relationship one can have with their abdomen. A person may have grown up with challenging feelings and thoughts about the silhouette of their belly or function of their organs. With each initial treatment session, the client is educated on an impactful set of self-care massage techniques to empower oneself, and to connect with one’s core, physically and energetically. Self-massage of one’s abdominal topography creates self knowledge; being able to speak confidently when and if things change. The work aims to reduce stagnations, from which conditions may arise.

I offer these techniques for the curious, those seeking relief from symptoms or enhancement & optimal positioning of organs. A lifelong learner, I continue to seek further studies to enhance my knowledge base of the organs of abdomen.
